Our Advisers

Stephen Morris

Educated locally at Grenville College, Stephen joined a leading Investment house where he obtained his Financial Planning Certificate in 1996. He advised private clients and developed his client bank until 1997 when he set up as an Financial Adviser.  Over the last 20 years Stephen has developed areas of his business planning to include advanced study around taxation, trusts and pensions. He holds Diploma status and intends to continue his ongoing qualifications. Outside of work Stephen enjoys a walk with his partner Amanda alongside his children Daniel, William and the beautiful Isabella.

Andrew Mackenzie-Shapland

 

Andrew was educated locally at Grenville College and he obtained his degree from Oxford Brookes University. He joined the firm in 2000 as a trainee financial adviser and he studied for his financial planning certificate which he achieved in 2001. In more recent years Andrew has obtained further qualifications in taxation, trusts and pensions and has achieved Diploma status. In his spare time Andrew has enjoyed captaining his beloved Bideford RFC for four seasons and he likes to spend time with his wife Sarah-Jane and their daughters Emily and Francesca.

Mark Cox

Educated locally at Shebbear College Mark went on to gain a degree from The University of Buckinghamshire in 2001. He joined the firm in 2001 as a trainee mortgage adviser. He has developed his expertise in the equity release field as well as mortgages and advises a wide range of private and corporate clients. In his spare time he enjoys honing his culinary skills for his wife Karina and their daughters Megan and Maddison.

James Buckland

 

James was educated locally at West Buckland School and went on to Swansea University where he obtained his degree. He joined the firm in 2005 as a trainee mortgage adviser. He obtained his certificate in mortgage advice in 2006. James was made a Director in 2011 and is working towards further accreditation towards his financial planning exams. In his spare time he has played rugby for Bideford Chiefs but now that he is a little longer in the tooth he plays occassionally for the Quins at Bideford.  Most weekends are now reserved for spending time with his wife Anneka and children Bronte and Hugo.

Catherine Hunt



Catherine was educated locally at Grenville college and went on to obtain her degree from Cardiff University. She joined the firm in 2004 as a mortgage adviser. She obtained her Certificate in Mortgage Advice and practice in 2005 and later obtained her Equity Release qualification in 2008. She has a wealth of experience in the residential and BTL mortgage fields, and deals with both locally and nationally based clients. Catherine enjoys spending time with her sons Ernie and Rufus, is an active member of Bideford Ladies Circle and enjoys a good box-set!

Sophie Lace



Sophie Lace is the newest member of the Morris Shapland team. She brings with her a wealth of experience gained within the hospitality sector. She has used her mortgage skills and exams to fantastic effect in her client facing role at Morris Shapland.  She has recently married her long time partner Mark and they have moved to the beautiful fishing village of Appledore alongside their children Ellie-May and Olivia.
